Judicial and administrative authority

The Drašković family possessed a complete judicial and administrative power on their manor estate. They had the so-called regal rights: the right to pass judgement on their serfs (iudicum dominale), the right of the sword (ius gladii), the right to distribute wine (ius educillandi), the right of transport (ius nauli), the right to charge customs duties (iustelonii), the right to hold fairs (iusnundinarum) and the right of patronage.

The right of the sword was a special privilege given by the king and it included the right to pass a death sentence and oversee its execution. The judicial power of a manorial lord extended over all perpetrators of criminal offenses which were found on his estate.
