Nikola II. Drašković

Nikola II was a royal adviser and a court judge. Soon after finishing his study in Bologna, he devoted himself to civil service and the defense against the Turks, and distinguished himself in numerous military campaigns. He died suddenly of a stroke. It is suspected that he was poisoned because of alleged involvement in the conspiracy of Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan. Nikola’s second wife, Kristina, was a daughter of another conspirator, Count Franjo Nadasdy. Nikola was a collector and numismatist. Unfortunately, his large collection was lost over time.

He built a still extant chapel in the Austrian shrine Mariazell.
