The collection offers an historical overview of the development of melee weapons and firearms as well as the fighting equipment from the fifteenth to the late nineteenth centuries.
Helmets and other parts of the armor are probably remains of the original squad equipment of the seventeenth-century Trakošćan garrison. Cannons with the Drašković family coat of arms are associated with the participation of the Drašković family members in the battles against Napoleon, and the French backswords, as spoils of war, might also originate from that time.
The Trakošćan Collection owns several examples of Ottoman weaponry. Exceptionally large and diverse is a group of polearms. Some pieces were used in the war, and some as a status symbol of the owner.
It is believed that the hunting rifles were part of the original inventory of the Drašković family's hunting equipment.
